About Us

Opening our doors in year 2000, Surinder and Gurmer 'Gary' Singh never imagined they would own and operate one of Canberra's most popular North Indian restaurants for over two decades.

Located in the heart of Phillip, Indian Affair Restaurant has become known in the community for serving only the best quality of food coupled with a service style that always comes with a smile. We strive to keep our interior warm and welcoming, making our customers feel right at home and leading a well-trained team that can find a dish to delight the tastebuds - from mild right through to Indian hot!

We wouldn't be where we are today without our loyal patrons, so we'd like to take a moment to thank you all for your support over the last 20+ years. You are the reason we continue to open our doors every single day.

Our Motto
A ‘customer’ is the most important visitor on our premises.
They are not dependent on us. We are dependent on them.
They are not an interruption on our work. They are the purpose of it.
They are not an outsider on our business. They are a part of it.
We are not doing them a favor by serving them. They are doing us a favor by giving us an opportunity to do so.

- Mahatma Gandhi

We welcome you to dine with us - have an affair, with Indian food, at Indian Affair.

Happy Diner

A hidden gem in Canberra for Indian food. Food is very tasty and lovely. Staff are so welcoming and friendly. Place is also very quiet and ambience is calm.
Scrumptious food, loved the naan and goat bhuna. Spicy levels are graded with layman terms so you can decide the level as your tolerance.

Local Food Critic

Nestled in the heart of the ACT, this family-run Indian restaurant is a culinary gem, founded by an Indian couple and their five daughters. With a warm ambiance, we indulged in butter chicken, irresistible roti, and cheese naan, along with flavorful biryani and garlic prawns. Intriguingly, they serve beef dishes, a nod to their adaptation to local tastes. Their fusion of traditional Indian flavors with Australian ingredients is reminiscent of culinary innovation. The family's warmth and hospitality made us feel like cherished guests. It's a dining experience we won't soon forget, and we're eager to return.
